J recently purchased these 4 1/2 inch L.A.M.B. heels: on Gilt for $175. Great deal, gorgeous shoes - way way too high.

My vote: return them and parlay those 175 cheddars into beautiful, wearable footwear.

Happy weekend!

shopbop is highlighting a new designer on their home: Aiko. The line is cool, comfortable and totally original. Triple threat...

Shop Aiko here.

This month's edition of Lucky magazine boasts pages and pages of "this season's hottest shoes." For the first time in memory, I cannot get behind a single one!
High-heeled clogs? Hideous. No exceptions.
Cork-soled shoes and platforms? Cheap.
Ankle-strapped flat sandals? Unless you're 90 lbs with mile long legs, these will give you cankles.
Two-tone oxfords: cute, but did I hallucinate or aren't these very last season?

Super cute, versatile, comfortable, and 50% off. And now that shopbop offers free shipping and free returns, this purchase is risk-free.

A.L.C. Madame Dress with Belt at shopbop (on sale for $224.50)

There needs to be an action word for studded clothing. Like "bedazzled" but without the tacky connotations. Bestuddling, perhaps? I'm inclined to say, "when in doubt, stud it" (ie: add studs, go from drab to fab, whatever) but that sounds strange. So alert the Websters people.

To add studs to a garment or accessory.

Girls are hardwired to "need" a new dress for every event. God knows where this impetus originated, but every time a girl is invited to a formal event, the thought of wearing something she already own is traumatizing.

For all of you that agree - donate your gently worn dresses!! The Princess Project collects dresses to give to young girls so they can look fabulous at prom. What a fantastic way to get karma points for this common (and somewhat irrational) sentiment!!

Check out this link for rules and donation locations in the Bay Area:

KC is getting hitched this year, and needs a dress worthy of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy (ie simple, classy Calvin Klein-esque). I'm going out on a limb here, but I imagine she's not looking for something that costs as much as my first car, as most wedding gowns do.

Here are a few off-the-rack options (of which there are not many) - I will supplement this post once I've had a chance to troll a few more bride-tastic websites.
